WPE Backstage: This is as real as it gets!

Animate Objects Physical Theater
A champagne pour from the ceiling at the Wedding Preview Event? You’ll see…

The Wedding Preview Event isn’t a wedding expo, a bridal show or anything that eludes to common ways of thinking. We are creating an event with the sole purpose of speaking to your dreams, tapping into your creative side and discovering what your perfect wedding day would look like.

What’s the best way to figure out what might work for you? Experience it! See each vendor in action, doing what they do best. Spy on them, take notes, touch, taste, hear, smell, feel what you can have at your wedding. Let yourself be transported to your special day. Who do you want there? What can they offer you? What sort of personal touch will they put on your wedding day? Ask questions. This isn’t a sales event, it’s a perfect time to talk with the most creative and talented wedding vendors knowing that there will be no pressure. Talk about yourself, find out some great ideas. If you make a connection, see if you can find a time to meet again. Relax, we are  here to entertain you and create a memorable experience.

There is inspiration everywhere. Don’t let that inspiration become what defines you – let it be something customized to you. Figure out who you are, what you want as a couple and let’s help you create that wedding day for yourself. Gone are the days of following rules for your wedding. Now is the time to create what you want your wedding day to be. From traditional to outlandish, the sky is the limit…and will be seen at the Wedding Preview Event.

Matthew Parker Events. Yep, he’ll be at the WPE with a massively cool design we can not WAIT for you to see!

It’s tough trying to figure out what you like vs. what you want to spend your precious wedding budget on for your wedding day. It’s easy to get carried away in one area that you enjoy (i.e. favors or music) while not paying attention to the areas you may not enjoy so much (i.e. staying on budget). This all gets a bit overwhelming.

Blush Furniture

For four  years, we have been working with wedding vendors and event guests to create the perfect mix of wedding inspiration, consultations, entertainment and even downtime at the Wedding Preview Event. This year we’ve nailed it!

Clowns Unlimited
Perhaps a Groom’s Lounge Man Cave?

We’re so horrible at “teasers” because you know we wouldn’t post cool stuff if you weren’t going to see the same or an even better version at the event. We want to tell you EVERYTHING but it wouldn’t be a surprise if we did. Think larger than life, a look into your future, music, lighting, entertainment, meet and greets, gifts, inspiration customized to you, dinner times 4, dessert times 4, drinks, lounging, games… AAAAGGGH! We can NOT wait!

When we say real, we’re not kidding! Check out these engagement photos from our four couples at the event:

Infographic: Visual representations of information, data or knowledge.

I LOVE infographics! They are so simple, take little time and are pleasing to the eye. Aren’t they great? All of your info is in one cute little package. We went searching through Pinterest to find the best boards containing wedding infographics. There weren’t any. Well, it’s time to make it happen. We have created a ‘Wedding Infographics‘ board on Pinterest. If you have any to add, let us know. After searching, this is what we found:

Lazy Workouts

October 2, 2012 Blog, Fit for your Wedding, Fitness, Healthy-ish, Weight Loss Leave a comment

We, as a society, are lazy. There’s really no denying it because the majority won’t get up and take a walk, won’t go out of their way to complete a project and are perfectly happy complaining about how they look rather than doing something about it.

For example:

Seriously, people?

How do you get up off the couch and start moving that body in order to get fit for your wedding in the least amount of time while fighting that lazy attitude?

Answer: I have no idea. I’m no trainer. You totally thought I was going to go off on those who can’t stick to a workout plan or find time to squeeze in a class, walk or even a run, didn’t you?

Nope, that’s not me. I’m right there with those of you who can’t seem to find something that works. When Revenge is on, new fall TV needs to be watched, Dexter,  Dancing with the Stars, and, really, any reality show is back on the air, I just can’t seem to find the time.

I say: Embrace it. Do workouts in front of the tv during commercial breaks or even along with your favorite show.

I’d be fired from a gym in less than a minute. Any trainers out there? Close your eyes.

THE COUCH CRUNCH

Nanoworkout.com

This workout is a bit easier if you have a couch with chaise since you then will have some more space, but a normal couch will do just fine.

Position yourself as close to the edge as possible with your legs elevated. Don’t jerk yourself up but but slowly roll up so you really can feel your abs working. Crunches don’t have to be very high so don’t try to go all the way up.

COMMERCIAL  BREAK WORKOUT

Sweet Tooth Sweet Life (.com)

Commercial Break #1

  • 15 squats
  • 30 lateral hops (place the TV remote on the floor and hop side to side over it)
  • 15 crunches

Commercial Break #2

  • 20 alternating lunges (10 on each leg)
  • imaginary jump rope – 60 “hops”
  • 30 bicycles (15 each side)

Commercial Break #3

  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 15 push ups
  • 15 supermans (lie facedown on floor, lift legs and arms off floor at same time)

Commercial Break #4

  • 50 mountain climbers (25 on each side)
  • 15 tricep dips (use the coffee table if you have to!)
  • 20 plank with side-to-side toe taps (10 each side)

Commercial Break #5

  • 30 skaters OR high knees
  • wall sit – 60 seconds (use any of those walls! Keep the thighs parallel to ground)
  • 20 alternating side planks (10 each side, on elbows or hands)

Wedding Idea: Easy Address Collection

October 1, 2012 Blog, Seattle, Wedding Ideas, Wedding Preview Event Leave a comment

Look in your phone right now. How many physical addresses do you have? Me = 7. I have no idea how those addresses go into my phone, either, because I NEVER ask anyone for their address. If I need to get to their house, I’ll plug it into my maps and off I go.

This poses a problem when you’re sending out wedding invitations. While the world seems to be moving in fast-forward utilizing technology for just about everything, parts of wedding planning and traditions still remain the same. This may be a bit of insanity on our part or the sweetness and almost only opportunity to actually send something in the mail that is beautiful and holds such a happy meaning. It’s: The Wedding Invitation. Coming soon to a mailbox near you.

So…how do you get the addresses quickly and keep them all in one place?

We’re pretty impressed with what Postable offers. You create an account, are given a link and then you email the link to friends and family. They will click on the link, enter their contact information (as in, those elusive addresses) and all of the data will be saved in your account. Just  head on into your Postable account and you’ll see all of your new contact information. Download or export the list and BOOM, you’ve got yourself a full guest list for invitations. How easy is that?

Next step: How do you address these suckers? If you are having invitations created, you can ask them about etiquette. If you’d like to take a peek on your own and figure out your wording, see the below image.

WPE Backstage: Chromatic Chemistry

September 28, 2012 Blog, Celebrity, Inspiration, Seattle, Tawsha's Blog, Vendors, Wedding Ideas, Wedding Preview Event, WPE Backstage, WPE Vendor Spotlight Leave a comment

Chromatic Chemistry Story:

She is a molecular biologist with a flair for design. He is an epidemiologist who plays bass guitar in a local band. They met during their undergrad studies at the UW.

Alex is your classic introvert so it took awhile for him to let Lisa know how he felt about her. Once he got enough nerve, the two were inseparable.

Through undergrad and then graduate programs, they carved out every spare minute they could for each other. They bonded over science, music and a love for design. They went to concerts, ate at great local restaurants and fell in love. He proposed on a rare sunny morning after grabbing coffee. She said yes!

There’s a unique chemistry between Alex and Lisa. Join them as they start life together as husband and wife.

The story creates a theme, a look, a personality to a wedding. The vendors (all listed below) came up with this story so they could create a world for you to experience. Be prepared to see the Chromatic Chemistry unfold in a life-like wedding and then be transported into the world of Chromatic Chemistry at the Wedding Preview Event.

A cool little twist

This is who will be “married” in the Chromatic Chemistry theme. Alex and Lisa (AKA 2people1life)  are traveling the world for two years getting married. The twist: They aren’t actually married yet. After two years, they will head back to their favorite destination and tie the knot once and for all. You can be a part of their highly publicized journey at the Wedding Preview Event on October 14th (Tickets HERE).

PIN-sday: Mason Jar Inspiration

September 26, 2012 Blog, Decor, DIY, If You're Crafty and You Know It, Inspiration, Pinsday, Pinterest, Tawsha's Blog, Wedding Ideas, Wedding Preview Event Leave a comment

Mason Jars. I have to admit, I was a huge fan of them until everyone started using them for their wedding. I’m the type to skirt the line between doing my own thing and trying something new. I like doing something new but I’m also afraid to go way beyond normal to where I just look like a freak show. Mason jars have been off my list of decor items for a while now.

Things have changed.

Just because you have a mason jar at your wedding, doesn’t mean you’re doing the “Shabby Chic” look or some “Rustic Farm” decor, it can do anything, be anything and cost very little.

Shame on me for judging.

I want to share these awesome pin boards (and Pinterest users) with you so you might become inspired. This is if you are anything like me.

Goal Clothing: A Good Fitness Reminder

September 25, 2012 Blog, Fit for your Wedding, Fitness, Health, Healthy-ish, Tawsha's Blog, Wedding Preview Event, Weight Loss Leave a comment

Just because it buttons up doesn’t mean it fits. This is what I hat to tell myself as I’m taking in limited oxygen “wearing” my teal skinny jeans  yesterday. FYI: Skinny jeans are deceiving. They do nothing but make you look not skinny.

Once I peeled off the teal stretchy material (Thank God in heaven for stretch – no, seriously, I thought I was going to die), I started receiving blood flow throughout my body and my brain went back into fully functioning mode. With my yoga pants on and a baggy tee, I vowed to do it all over again. Not because I looked super awesome poured into my pants but because it was a great reminder of the progress I’ve made and a realistic look of where I need to be.

Are you trying to get fit? Do you have a goal outfit in mind? Maybe it’s a swimsuit. Either way, give it a whirl. Try it on, continue to do your exercise of choice and healthy eating and put that goal outfit on (or attempt to do it) about every two weeks. See how it starts to feel.

How does this tip float your boat?
